Anderson will try to defend their Ohio Division II state championship tonight at 7:00 PM at Massillon against Sylvania Southview.
The Redskins enter the championship on an eight-game winning streak; including two avenging wins over Winton Woods and Columbus Desales in the playoffs.
Running back Kyle Slater has carried Anderson’s offense throughout the playoffs with single-game rushing marks of 257 yards against Loveland, 223 against Winton Woods, and 255 against Desales last week.
Southview, on the other hand, has been on a pretty good run of their own… like since the beginning of the season. The Cougars, at a perfect 14-0, have averaged 31 points a game so far in the playoffs. Last week, they defeated Akron Hoban 31-0 in the state semifinals.
The Cougar offense is led by dual-threat quarterback Alex Pidcock. Pidcock threw for 1,723 yards on the season, completing 75% of hispasses, and ran for 895 yards during the regular season.
