I’ve been asked several times throughout the year who is my favorite player to watch, or who do I think is the best at a certain position, or who would I want on my team. Well here is my answer to all of those questions. Here is my “Dream Team” from Cincinnati this year… Remember that this is just my team that I would pick and it is just offense. Feel free to post your team as a comment. QB: Bo Cordell, Indian Hill- The Indian Hill quarterback led the area with 2,853 yards on the year with 31 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He was very efficient with a completion percentage of 68.7%. There were several good options at quarterback this year, but in my opinion Cordell is the best all around option. He has size, athleticism, can make all the throws, and seems to know the game well. RB 1: Bud Golden, Sycamore- The Illinois recruit racked up 1,513 yards on the year with 19 touchdowns. Golden averaged 7.6 yards a carry. At 6’0” 191lbs., Golden has the frame to add on some more weight in college, and with 4.4 speed he is a great combination of speed and power. RB 2: Tyler Williams, Colerain- Tyler Williams is quite possibly the most electrifying player in the area, and is my favorite to watch. Williams ranked 11th in total rushing yards on the season despite only getting about half of the carries most running backs got. Williams is the 3rd option in the triple option offense ran at Colerain, and therefore has to split carries with FB Trayion Durham and QB Greg Tabar. There might be better backs out there, but I would love my thunder and lightning tandem of Golden and Williams. Golden’s punishing running style can wear the D out and Williams can beat them to the edge and is always a threat to hit the homerun. FB: Sage Iacovone, Moeller- At 6'0 210lbs., Iacovone has the size to be a punishing blocker, but his athleticism is what really sets him apart. He is a great asset in the passing game with his soft hands, and has the ability to make people miss or run them over when his number is called.
WR 1: Steve Hull, Sycamore- Golden and Hull will continue to be teammates after they leave Sycamore this season as Hull is headed to Illinois as well. Hull is a tough matchup at the high school level as he is 6’2” and has a 39” vertical leap. He has great hands, makes great adjustments, and is strong to the ball. Hull finished the year with 36 catches for 802 yards and 11 touchdowns. WR 2: Josh Jones, Elder- Jones might be the most physically imposing receiver I saw this year. He is 6’1” 205lbs. with a big upper body. He has good (4.5) speed, and very good hands. Jones was more of a possession receiver for the Panthers catching 41 passes for 691 yards and eight touchdowns. WR 3: Tony Harris, Moeller- When I thought about this from a standpoint of actually trying to put a team together that worked, it was easy to make the choice of who I wanted in the slot. Harris can be easily described in one word… playmaker. Harris caught 70 passes for 748 yards and three touchdowns on the season. His biggest play of the year however, might have been in the second last week of the regular season when he returned a punt for a touchdown 91 yards as time expired against St. Ed’s to keep Moeller in the playoff hunt. TE: Ted Bolser, Indian Hill- The 6’5” 212lb. tight end was Cordell’s favorite target this year, as the duo hooked up 63 times for 829 yards and 11 touchdowns. Bolser has verbally committed to Indiana and is quite possibly the best receiving tight end in the area. Offensive Line: Austin Bujnoch, Elder; Kevin Thomas, Winton Woods; John Anevski, Elder; Matt James, St. Xavier; and Andrew Norwell, Anderson.
